Sitting down with a good book is a lovely way to relax and have some time out, but with our busy lives it’s a hobby which sometimes gets forgotten. However the emergence of the likes of Amazon, Play and other online book stores has made it easier than ever to buy a book. It has also made it cheaper with the many offers on place – this has then impacted onto the traditional high street stores such as Waterstones and WH Smith to also have regular promotions and offers to tempt their customers into buying more books.
I do wonder whether the increase of purchasing on line will eventually cause the high street book shops to demise. I hope the young will still be keen to read, and won’t spend all their time playing computer games, and will instead become absorbed in an enthralling read, whether it’s a fictional novel, a biography, or a factual book, you can guarantee that they are learning something with each page turned. The likes of JK Rowling and her Harry Potter books have helped raise the interest in books again, and encouraged children (and adults) to read a good book.
So whether your favorite is Steven King, Terry Pratchett, Jodi Picoult or Sue Townsend – there is something for everyone – it’s just a case of finding the time to sit down and enjoy it!
