We live in a society where beauty really seems to be skin deep. We’re constantly bombarded with advertisements with potions and creams designed to fight the signs of aging, banish cellulite, and make us body and skin perfect. This is fuelled by the ever increasing obsession with celebrities. Magazines are full of touched up celebrities all escalating the pressure that everyday people feel to try to look perfect all the time, no matter what their age or lifestyle.
So is there any difference between relatively cheap Boots/ Superdrug own brand moisturisers, and one of the more exclusive Clarins, Dior or Clinique products. Are we tempted to spend £30 on a cream because it comes in a nice box, has sophisticated advertisements, and comes with a promise of yout
It seems that a lot of people are tempted into spending a small fortune on the hope that the cream will work wonders and they will look fresh, young and perfect, just like the advertisements. Things have certainly changed since there were only a few products to choose from, now the selection is vast, so the mission to find the perfect cream which will make our skin faultless is a never ending one. This means we’re always searching for the right cream for our specific skin type/ problem area, and the price that we’re wiling to pay is at times vast. But lets be honest, I’m sure those among you will recall the pleasure of treating yourself to a more exclusive brand and believing (if only for a second) the promise on the outside of the box. So if it makes us feel good on the inside, hopefully it’ll show on the outside…
