LINDY announces new locking mechanism for HDMI cables

Stockton-on-Tees, UK (13th December 2007) – LINDY Electronics announced today its latest device designed to make life easier for AV enthusiasts and installers: the HDMI Connector Lock, which overcomes the lack of thumbscrews on standard HDMI cables that are required to create a secure connection to a display, projector, wall plate or other device.

“"Unlike DVI and VGA cables, which allow the user to lock the connection into place, HDMI cables have nothing,"” comments Stephen Fawcett, Senior Product manager of LINDY Electronics. “"When you consider that most HDMI installations involve cable runs to the
ceiling or wall plates that are open to accidental knocking, not being able to secure the connection in some way is obviously a problem.”"

Designed to be used in conjunction with LINDY’s Premium Gold HDMI cables, the HDMI Connector Lock is manufactured from a high quality thermoplastic polymer which, when warmed, easily slips over the HDMI connector and forms a tight fit as it cools down. A built-in thumbscrew then allows the cable to be secured to a LINDY HDMI Wall Plate.

The Connector Lock can also be used with HDMI devices which have a suitably positioned fixing screw. In this instance, the user can just simply replace the device’s fixing screw with the supplied hex nut and attach the Connector Lock to it.
